Was pondering not starting this, but thought I may as well recognise what is a nice hotel that brings together
two brands to presumably be better than a JW Marriott. As it was I had a pleasant two day stay here, traveling around via Didi, and enjoying my river views. As an Ambassador I was upgraded from a base corporate room (very good value for money) to a near-top floor river view (no suite), with a welcome gift of some fruit. I would happily return, as many of the nicer hotels are now outside of my corporate limit, and I could get to the business district in Pudong pretty quickly in a morning, there wasn't any metro option as far as I could tell.
Welcome letter & elite benefits
There are some benefits more than a JW Marriott, including garment pressing (normally reserved for a St Regis), however the hotel sends the garments outside to press, so they can't do it overnight (doh!) but rather just as normal laundry returned by the next evening. It was a bit ambiguous about whether I could have a normal breakfast, but the lounge was sufficient for me.

Room
Was stylish with separate shower & toilet, though the large marble bath in the middle of the bathroom may not be to everyone's liking. It had great views (more of those at the end of the review), though you are far from the Bund itself (in the far right), nor is there much around except a nearby museum and a nice riverbank to walk along.

Executive lounge
I had breakfast twice (standard fare for Asia, including an egg/noodle chef), and did the evening snacks once. The space is well set-up, the traffic moves quickly but I imagine it runs out of tables fairly easily for a 40 floor hotel. For the evening drinks they encourage you to eat in the food area, and then move to the (larger) cocktails/relaxing lounge, which is probably a good idea - but does mean that the food prep area has no alcohol, you need to go and collect it. I feel that the food choice and quality was perfectly brand standard (sparkling wine was a sweet prosecco), the evening freshly cooked snacks were quesadilla, then you had a mixture of Chinese + Western foods.

Views
I do think the hotel has lovely views of the river, even though the location didn't seem to be that close, it was only 15 minutes to Pudong properly in a Didi
