Follow-up on this... (and not really sure this is the right thread, but here we go)
tl;dr - does fully completing the FlyReady requirements allow you to use the Self-Service Bag Drop line for international itineraries if the kiosk prints out bag tags?
My family and I (extended family - 7 members on one PNR) did click on "I already completed this form" in FlyReady. We had a 6:15am DEN-SEA flight, and we arrive at the DL counter at DEN just before 4am to see absolute chaos. Lines everywhere. We start standing in the Self-Service bag drop line while I walked away to get bag tags for our two bags. I went to a kiosk near the SkyPriorty check-in, and the machine could not read my passport. I went to another kiosk* on the other side of the walkway, and I was able to get both bag tags. It took my sister four kiosks before the machine could read her passport.
* - even though FlyReady accepted my passport, and I saved it to my profile, it asked me to re-scan my passport and confirm. However, the rest of my family got the "we already have your passport in your SkyMiles profile, can we use that for this itinerary?" question.
Now the fun begins. While standing in the bag drop line, I noticed there was also the "International Check-In" line, but no one in that line had bag tags on their luggage. That line was significantly longer than the bag drop line. I figured we were okay since we got bag tags. As we approached the front of the bag drop line, a DL employee shouted that anyone traveling internationally needs to go to the international check-in line. Disgruntled, we switched lines (along with a bunch of other people). Around the same time, another employee (we'll name him Tom) near the international check-in line shouted that the self-service bag drop line was on the other side; thus, a bunch of people left the international check-in line. A few minutes later, Tom is walking the international check-in line, sees our bag tags to ICN, and says, "the kiosk let you print bag tags?" I said yes, and I further explained we were at the front of the self-service line when we were told to go into the other line. Tom told me to follow him because we should be eligible to use the self-service bag drop (at this time, my sister was at kisok #3 trying to get bag tags). Tom actually takes us directly up to a counter and explains the situation to those behind the counter. We get passed off three times, but someone (at a self-service bag drop desk) is finally able to accept our bags. About 5 minutes later, my sister finally gets bag tags. I find Tom again and ask if my sister can go to the bag drop line instead. He suddenly changed his tune and said, technically you can use the self-service bag drop since the system allowed you to print bag tags (thus passport verification was satisfied), but they have to stay in the international check-in line (my guess he got his wrist slapped). The international check-in line eventually sped up, and everything worked out in the end.
This was my first time flying DL in about 15 years, but if you don't have Sky Priority, you are the first flight ex-DEN to a DL hub, and you have bags to check, I highly recommend arriving two hours before your flight. We saw countless people begging DL employees to get to the front of the line because they arrived 60-75 minutes before boarding with bags to check.
