weren't designed for a Compass. I don't doubt your driving skills, but it won't be nice, relaxing or sweat-free. Personally, I'd go with public transport and a taxi.

The train. I know that with 4 people the tendency would be to use a taxi, but if there's one advice I give to those who don't speak the language is not to use a taxi. It's sad to say, but cabbies in Dushanbe are more likely to give you an invoice, accept credit cards and not rip you off than those in Rome.
