Is the parking by the Amalfi lodging free? May be a shock if it isn't. Parking in Amalfi was not cheap if available at all 20+ years ago of-season (January-February). Doubt if it's improved. Be careful leaving Rome as wandering into a ZTL may end up costing you lots. Had a devil of a time getting from the Appian Way to the car rental return garage (tight turns up the ramp) by Termini a few years ago.
Yes, we have free parking at the airbnb. After looking at bus routes and travel times, etc. I think we are going to stick with the rental car...if we get there and it seems like buses are better and more convenient, then we will just leave the car and bus for the day...won't be happy about eating ~$100/day, but I want to make sure we have the option of getting in a car and driving.
