I have a nice Arlo Skye Aluminium carry on, gift from my lovely wife in 2018 that accompained me for more than 400 travels. Unfortunately the handle has decided to give up and Arlo Skye doesn't provide a repair parts (they claim to be discountinued).
As of now I mainly traveled with EK with a pretty good status (Platinum) that allowed everywere (except Japan) to have the ground staff close an eye on the size and weight of my carry on. I'm about to move back to Europe (in the next 12 months) and to travel more on regonal sectors, maybe with low cost airlines.

I don't want to give up on the aluminium carry-on (even if a Samsonite Curv could be a smart choice). I would have happily considered Away (I have a large aluminium one that is holding pretty well) bu they don't sell in Europe and are out of stock in silver. Arlo Skye is not an option because of the size (and I'm pretty pissed at the customer service) and I'm left with Rimowa (either Original or Classic) and Tumi (19degrees Alu international)

Despite Rimowa seems to be the gold standard, with lifetime warranty and a pretty easy serviceability, It's becoming way too popular with lifestyle addicted than I would like.
Then it comes to the Tumi, with just 5 years warranty and a design that is a bit more original, but the problem is the weight (1kg more than rimowa) and the height, that is supposed to be 56cm instead of the 55 that Rimowa is and that seems to be the most common size for EU cabin baggage.

Is there any of you that has experience of traveling in EU with an aluminium carry on? toughts on the Tumi? is the 56vs 55 a dealbreaker?

thanks!!
I would second Rimowa aluminum luggages. I never check in bags, and I travel extensively with a Rimowa Classic for all trips. Even works as a carryon with Whizz Air (Low cost Romanian carrier) and lion air ATR 72 aircrafts to the middle of a remote island.

Rimowa isn't going to go bankrupt in the near future, so at least the lifetime warranty will be honored. Being in Dubai, you'll have easy access to Rimowa services.

Tumi is pretty much Samsonite.....I rather go with Rimowa's warranty than Samsonites.
