The IHG CC seem utterly clueless they either say the property is fully booked (Duh!) or transfer me to the property who say they are fully booked. There is no acknowledgement of the reservation guarantee at all even though it is more than 1000 hours out not 72.
At no point has any T&C weasling been attempted. It would have been more subtle to ask for £1000 for a basic room.
I’ve used it before. And once almost did until they quoted me an insane price. It’s always a struggle. IHG CS can’t create the reservation themselves. They need to reach out to the hotel and the hotel can then do so.
In both cases it required a few days and constant follow up from me and support until they eventually quoted me. Expect them to charge a significant premium, even above what Best Flexible rate would be and sometimes not the entry level room. So it might not be worth the hassle
Better to HUCA or just use email give you have time. It’s not a standard process or a fast one anyway.
Reaching IHG customer service and hotel both might yield better results.
