Air India ground experience continues to be terrible. A family member was flying this weekend YYZ-DEL-CCU. The DEL-CCU segment got canceled due to the cyclone (CCU airport was closed). We must have called Air India 15 times to get her rebooked on the next available flight. Even after she got her checked bag in Delhi, they kept saying that the system was showing that her bag was "still checked in" so they could not rebook her. She needed to go to a counter and verify that she got her bag. All misconnect passengers were sent to two counters at DEL which were a complete zoo. People cutting lines, shouting over each other, yelling at the agents.....etc. By the time she reached the counter, all flights for the next 3 days were sold out.

We had to pay for her hotel and shell out another INR 20,000 for a 1 day later Indigo flight. While United auto rebooks even before your plane lands, ancient AI system won't even allow a manual rebook by a customer service agent by phone.
