Maybe this one is not about business seats but economy seats. AA's domestic feed into JFK or BOS is pretty minimal. LGA is marginally better, but few want to make the LGA-JFK transfer, especially when going to LHR or broader Europe there are easier options via EWR on UA/Star or JFK on DL/Skyteam from anywhere in the USA.

So B6 can offer at least some Y feed into JFK or BOS. BA's frequency at JFK can cushion against the inbound misconnects due to B6's shoddy operation. It seems like a no-regrets move.
BA doesn't seem to have any difficulty filling their 12+ daily flights, even the ones from EWR (where they fly up to 3x daily) and have basically no AA connect. I've frequently seen every flight zeroed out, so not sure what B6 would add.
