4 hours has to be the absolute maximum to arrive pre-departure, surely. Doesn't matter how good the lounge, spa and shopping, you'll be able to absolutely rinse it out in that time.
Personally, it's always the shortest possible check-in for me and after an hour or so max. I like to be airborne.
