Hi there,
New here but hope you can help. Wondering where to go from here with Avis. My wife I just finished a 10 day rental from LAX 10th May 2024 to 21st May 2024.
The car was not exactly clean on pickup and i did notice the tire pressures were high. I know I perhaps should have refused and could have checked the tires in advance but looking for options of help on where to go from here with AVIS in particular.
We were driving through through
Ridgecrest 15th May 2024 and had a tire separate on the back left drivers side tire. Fortunately we were close to a tire garage and we managed to crawl to 'motions tires' (120 Warner) in ridge crest where they kindly changed to the spare but said we couldn’t leave Ridgecrest safely on the spare and that the front two tyres were close to separating and it was not safe to drive to Las Vegas. They did not have any suitable replacement tires and that it would take a day to order in.
My pregnant wife and one of the motions tire workers spoke to an AVIS representative on their landline and the AVIS representative told us to go the T&T alignment (317 W Inyokern) where it was agreed by the representative that T&T would replace all 4 tyres for new, paid for by AVIS. We attended T&T who said they had no new or used tyres for the mustang and who said to go to A&L tire (317 W Inyokern). A&L confirmed that the back left tyre was fully separated and that the driver front tyre was close to separating and not suitable to drive to vegas.
Another Avis representative said to change the tires and keep the invoice, photos and the motor vehicle number and to send this to [email protected] for refund processing afterwards.
A&L changed both failure tires in rear and front driver side for USD 439.82
All three garages say this is due to long term wear and not caused by the past four days. They say the tire pressures were far too high and that the tires were not safe to drive on from delivery to me and that the situation could have been serious with a blow out.
I took the car back to Vegas and they were going to process the refund at the desk but the lady there said that they could only refund on in store avis transactions and not ones agreed and prepaid online
and I need to email that [email protected]
I emailed customer service with all the evidence: photos, invoice and essnetially their continued reply is:

So essentially: Avis had no notes written up on our calls to emergency helpline x2 and reportedly therefore no authorization therefore no refunds.
Any suggestions please? I feel like ive paid for their tire upkeep.
