Smile How to deal with an 8 hr layover in LAX

Hello !
I'm hoping I will be forgiven for not carrying out searches on here for an answer to my question. It's just that time is of the essence with an intended booking with VS and i'm hoping that frequent flyers will be willing to put me straight on the apparent challenges I have at LAX.

Mrs machotspur and I are planning a trip to the South Pacific, with the intended outbound flight being LHR - LAX - PPT (Papeete). The LHR-LAX would be with VS then the LAX - PPT would be with AF.
From a cost point of view the lowest fare - by far - involves a layover in LAX of almost 8 hours !!!

So - please - can wiser VS travellers than I please assist with the following questions :-

- is it straightforward to transfer in LAX from the inbound VS flight to the outbound AF flight - and what terminals are involved ?

- what lounges are available to us in LAX - as VS Upper Class passengers & AF Business Class - and are we able to avail ourselves of the facilities for the entire 8 hour layover/transfer period, or are we 'thrown out' after a certain period of time ?

- are there any airside hotels/sleeping arrangments at LAX - within the contraints of the layover/transfer described above - that we could crash out in, to avoid spending up to 8 hours in a chair in a Business Class lounge ?

Thank you so much for any insight & assistance you can give, and apologies if I have been a little lazy in not spending more time trawling this board for the answers. (Well I have actually spent a fair amount of time searching but just cant seem to find the answers !).
