My only worry is the back and forth commuting between Yokohama and Tokyo. I can see that there is a bullet train option and slower train connections between Yokohama and Tokyo but the hotel isn't exactly close proximity to these stations so probably we would end up taking a taxi to the stations + train to reach Tokyo adding significant time and cost to our commuting. Should i just bite the bullet and stay IC in Tokyo or save money and maybe book a hotel directly attached to the bullet train station in Yokohama with easy access to the train? I really dislike stamp sized hotel rooms.
Sakuragicho and Minatomirai stations are not too far from ghe hotel, and connects well to central Tokyo. But you will spend 50-60 minutes each way. The bullet train will not really speed it up, as Shinyokohama station is pretty far from the hotel. Also keep in mind trains don't run all night, so you'd need to keep last train in mind if goind out for dinners starting a. It mate, or running through a long tasting menu.
It is not impossible to use as a base for Tokyo, but it is certainly not a convenient option either.
