I used to be able to book a hotel stay using my free night certificate even if the date of stay was after the expiration date of the certificate, as long as I booked the hotel before the certificate expired. This no longer seems to be the case. Is there any way to use the certificate once it has expired? I don't recall this ever being the case. Even thinking back to 10yrs ago with certs like the travel packages, you had to redeem it prior to expiration. The hotel receives the certificate as payment at time of stay. How could that ever have worked if the method of payment is expired? Skeptical it ever worked this way but maybe very long ago it did, perhaps someone can cite it.
