Tried this on a PDX-BOI round trip. As noted, the fare class becomes I but the mileage (and more importantly EQM) earnings post as if you are still in main cabin.
Nice feature, but buyer beware if you are looking for the F RDM/EQM bonuses.
It does seem odd given the price differentials and fare bucket being J/C/D/I that flights aren’t posting with the newer earning rates.
Until AS posts the T&Cs, it’s difficult to comment on if this is a bug or as designed, but it does leave pax desiring some CARE
