The Swift experience kicked off at immigration. Judging by accents around me, I figured most of the folks on my flight were heading to Stockholm for the concert. The immigration officers were just stamping everyone through as long as they said they were staying a few days for the concert. All was going swimmingly until the two girls in front of me made it to the immigration officer. Their plans were to backpack around Europe for the summer after the concert and then head back stateside, which is all fine and dandy. The problem was that they failed to comprehend why a ticket departing from London in August wasn’t sufficient for proof of onward travel from the EU.
I have to give that poor immigration officer props. Somehow, he kept a straight face through the entire 15ish minute conversation explaining the UK isn’t part of the EU. Eventually, a supervisor got involved and the two got pulled aside. As for me, I was through in less than 10 seconds after that.
The fun kept on going after immigration. The airport used Taylor Swift as elevator music, which was fun. Then, there were these signs on the Arlanda Express Platform at Central Station.
I managed to catch one of the last trains of the night over to Sundyburg, where it was a short walk over to our first hotel of the trip, Story Hotel Signalfabriken which is one of Hyatt’s JdV properties. Obviously, I took the next couple of pictures the morning after.
Check in was swift, and I was in my room right around 1am. Obviously, I took these pictures right after I got in my room. So excuse their awfulness.
This creepy picture was right next to the bed. I don’t know about y’all, but it gave me strong “Come play with us” vibes (The Shining reference for those who haven’t seen it).
The bathroom was small, modern, and tidy.
This was obviously a standard room. I never have any expectation for an upgrade, and even more so during high occupancy weekends like this one. Regardless, I liked it. Everything was a bit on the small side (expected for a little boutique hotel), but it was comfy and modern. One thing to note: this hotel does not have A/C in the guest rooms. I thought it was fine, but my sisters found their room to be too stuffy. On another note, all rates for this hotel includes breakfast. I’ll admit, I didn’t realized this until I checked in. So I kicked myself a bit for applying a Guest of Honor certificate for my sisters’ room.
Breakfast was pretty decent. The cold selection was extensive with bread, pastries, cold cuts, cheese, and fruit it. Those were very good. Hot items were fairly typical with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and beans, which were fine but not great.
The hotel also really leaned into the Swift weekend. We got this email a few days before arriving.
Overall, our stay at the Story Hotel Signalfabriken was pleasant. The room was small but comfortable. Cleanliness was fine, and service was good. Its location was pretty goof for sightseeing as it’s just a 5 minute walk to the Sundyburg station, which is just a quick two stops away from Stockholm Central. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
