I was able to renew pretty quickly. There was no line at the office after going through the regular visitor's line at the airport. They were able to look up my old info without needing the expired passport. Scanned phone with FF card on display. New sticker without barcode attached to the back.
Applied about two weeks ago, no wait.
The officer looked up how many entries, but it was the frequent flier card that saved the day.
Ironically, HKG is the only other airport I've used more than 100 times (besides JFK). Of course, recent world events curtailed those travels for a bit....
