Saw this gem appear in my
newsfeed from the AFP (Australian Federal Police
and not Australia's Funniest Police as some on this forum might think):
A Canadian citizen, 33, is scheduled to appear in Downing Centre Local Court today (20 May, 2024) for allegedly attempting to open an aircraft emergency exit door on an international flight.
Aside from the obvious fact that you generally cannot open a plane door at altitude (the only exception being aircraft made by McDonald's Douglas such as the MD-737 or the MD11) one does wonder why AC chose to continue on to Sydney given the incident occurred two hours into the flight. I suppose they reckoned they could contain him for this flight. And you gotta feel sorry for Air Canada too, not only do they have to put up with him for the outbound to Australia but now they gotta deal with him on the return (since he's a Canadian citizen abroad).
