The Sheraton is, of course, a nice hotel - it’s always lovely to have an easy suite upgrade without asking, and even more lovely when it’s a multi-night stay over a weekend. While not 100% perfect, I’ll definitely return. For Sydney, I’m not sure there’s anything better.
Pros:
- Upgraded in advance to a Grand Executive Suite - this stuck, and unlike last time, didn’t change to some sort of speciality Terrace Spa Suite (woe is me!)
- Suite was ready around Noon on arrival - great!
- Bed is very comfortable - plush mattress, plush pillows, decent-ish covers (could be thicker, but AC isn’t super strong, so it worked)
- Shower pressure was great and very cleansing
- While they didn’t come until the 2nd day, the chocolates and chocolate covered marshmallows were a good welcome gift
- No issue with 4 PM late checkout
- Comfortable living room couch and desk chair
- Chromecast present on the TVs
- Lounge has good desserts, both in the afternoon and during evening service
- Restaurant breakfast (I picked as my welcome gift, but the sheet mentions club guests can have the restaurant?) is great and is back on floor 1 in the new restaurant - given a whole tour by staff on morning 1 - great omelets with creamy cheese, great cinnamon rolls and chocolate croissants, pancakes on morning 1 and hashbrowns on morning 1 - unfortunately waffles and roasted potatoes on morning 2, great tastes throughout
- Large bath towels
Neutral:
- Doesn’t really affect the stay, hence neutral - some of the wood trim around the corner window was quite worn and cracked
Cons:
- Phone rang once several times after Noon on checkout day and woke me up from my nap
- At checkout, they tried to charge me $2 for a long distance call - I told them I didn’t make it because I didn’t - they said they would take it off, but ended up charging me then and there - then, they had to get a manager to refund me
