I loved using WeChat pay for pretty much everything. No need to carry cash, the charges went straight off my Australian credit card and they even accepted Amex. 3% conversion fee- meh, well worth the hassle free travel in my opinion.

And yes, Germany is way worse in this respect- one of the few places in the world where you still have to carry annoying cash with you, coins even brrrrr.
