It depends what payment option you choose. With hotel chains other than GHA, if you select "pay at hotel" then benefits will almost always be honored. If you choose "pre-pay" then it's often considered a third party booking like Expedia so in that case different hotels handle this situation as they wish, some hotels honor all benefits, some do not give anything at all, and some are somewhere in the middle. I suspect GHA will be similar in that regard.
