Very excited about the Rwanda itinerary my wife and I are about to book for 2026 in July/August. After working with a local tour operator we finally settled on a 10 night itinerary that works for us. It was important for me to see chimps and colobus monkeys in Nyungwe, get 2 gorilla treks plus a golden monkey trek, so we extended our time in volcanoes, plus we wanted to get a traditional safari experience in Akagera. We broke up the drive from Nyungwe to Volcanoes with a night at Lake Kivu. The luxury lodge rates in volcanoes came back and literally doubled my itineraries total price, so I downgraded in that area to 5 Volcanoes which seems like it will be comfortable although nowhere near Bisate or Singita, however the gorilla permits are expensive and for me this was the most important aspect of this section of the trip. We are staying at the nicest places available in Nyungwe and Akagera so I am very happy with that.

2 nights One&Only Nyungwe House

1 night Lake Livu Serena Hotel

4 nights 5 Volcanoes Hotel

3 nights Magashi Camp
