I liked being able to leave my wallet at home in China. Took a little getting used to, but I adapted pretty quickly even if just taking a holiday.

And speaking of holidays, in Europe, the whole population also takes their holidays during the same period . Like the thousands of kilometres of traffic jams during the peak summer and long-weekend holidays.
Your decision not to carry cash isn't my problem, just as my choice not to stare at my phone to do anything isn't yours.

As for holiday travel, let's see, tens of millions of Germans v. hundreds of millions of mainlanders ... all trying to board one of two buses at Zhangjiajie. Nope, no difference Before anyone says "but Germany is smaller," first consider where the bulk of mainlanders travel within their own country.

Crowd control is the big issue, or lack thereof. Mexico City tries to limit which licence plates can drive depending on the day. Traffic is still bad, but it could also be worse. Perhaps during CNY/Labour Day/October, Forbidden City-like quotas should be introduced all over the place.
