Absolutely no benefit in earning silver in TPs if you will have it anyway by dropping from gold. So save your money to get gold or silver the year after.
Year 0 Blue, earnt 1500 TPs got to Gold this year and next
Year 1 Gold earnt 0 TPs fly on avios and get the benefits of status
Year 2 Silver earnt 0 TPs as above, reward fly
Year 3 Bronze earnt 600 TPs early in the year to get silver again for the rest of this year and the next.
