Passport holders from the following countries will be eligible for e-gates starting next month:
  1. Australia*
  2. Bahrain
  3. Brunei*
  4. Canada
  5. China
  6. European Union (all 27 member states)
  7. Hong Kong
  8. Japan*
  9. Jordan
  10. Kuwait
  11. New Zealand*
  12. Oman
  13. Qatar
  14. Saudi Arabia*
  15. Singapore*
  16. South Korea*
  17. Taiwan
  18. United Arab Emirates
  19. United Kingdom*
  20. United States*
Current e-gate eligible countries are denoted with an * plus Germany (lumped into EU).

Another post suggested that it's no longer necessary to register to use of the e-gates, completion of the online arrival form now being sufficient (at least for those holding passports of the starred countries in the list above). If that is correct, it would put Malaysia in the same league as Indonesia.

But what about the fingerprints? Malaysia seems obsessed by collecting bio-data.
