Attempted to reload my Greendot card at WM today after several years of dormancy. I got a new card in the mail today (had to request it as I had lost the old one). I attempted to load $994.26 at WM (was told the maximum load amount was 1k), with the $3.74 loading fee it came to $998 (I was paying with 2x$499 swipes). The first card went through fine, and the second one did as well or so it appeared - the white screen on my side showed a debit of $499 but then quickly everything blanked out and it printed a small "Debit not authorized" slip that the cashier handed to me. The charges were reversed on the VGCs and they still have a $499 balance.

I am confident it's not any issue with the VGCs I'm using as I have used this same brand today at WM for MOs and Discover reloads.

Any ideas what the problem might be? It seems like Greendot somehow rejected the transaction. I have a negative balance of about $20 on the card but not sure why they would reject the reload for that reason (if anything I would think they would welcome a reload so they can collect that).
