I bought a TravelPro bag 6 years ago that came with a bad zipper. It was too close to the trip to get a repair and the seller assured me that the lifetime warranty would cover it when I come back. Didn't end up following up, just stuck it in the closet and used another bag.
Fast forward to recently, I needed a second bag so dug it up and tried to file a warranty claim. In the same correspondence, their service rep told me, and I quote, without paraphrasing:
* "A manufacturer defect happens within the first year of purchase of the bag, not six years later."
* "An "active" limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship that negatively impact the functional performance of the product, including: Wheels, Zippers, Extension handles, Carrying handles"
* "Currently, there are no known or listed manufacturer defects for the Maxlite 5 collection."
Interestingly they omit the "lifetime" part of "limited lifetype warranty" in the correspondence, when it's still clearly advertised as lifetime on their website.
I sent them my emails with the seller from just weeks after purchase. They said I didn't email them directly so it's worthless.
tl;dr TravelPro's Limited Lifetime Warranty covers manufacturer defects. Manufacturer defects can only appear within the first year of purchase. Manufacturer defects have nothing to do with your bag, they are determined by TravelPro to affect the "collection"
So, the Lifetime Warranty is... a lie.
