I've had many a fake "suite" over my stays at various hotel chains. Worst offenders are in South America by far. Many "suites" are just slightly larger rooms or have a bigger hallway. US/Europe properties love to put some kind of half TV divider in the middle of the room and call it a suite or junior suite. Asia seems to have the most true suites with separate rooms and doors. Sadly this is just a trend that will become more common place as hotel brands moving out of property management and are really just marketing companies.
