G-NEOP
Our transport for today is G-NEOP a five year old A321 neo.
As we were taxiing one of the young crew came rushing forward to speak to the IFL and I didn’t hear what had brought him forward at speed but I did hear the response of “that’s all right, no stress on my flights” high hope for a fun trip back to London.
A short taxi and we are in the air by 12:13
Once the seatbelts were off the menus were quickly distributed and it is a No Pork menu which at the moment is a good thing, no ‘crispy’ pork belly. I’m a bit torn between the cod and the chicken but I think the chicken wins.
By 12:30 drinks service was underway and they’re using two trollies to serve from the front and back simultaneously as there are 47 in club this afternoon.
No prizes for guessing my first round
I was surprised that the BBQ lemon chicken was a salad, but went with it and as has been my recent habit, converted it into a very tasty roll
Today has been a good flight and a great crew, they’ve worked the cabin ceaselessly and with good humour. kudos to James, the IFL who made it all look easy with 47 in the cabin and some relatively inexperienced crew.
Pilot announcement at 14:50 that he expected to be on the stand around 20 minutes early. Just time for one last glass of champagne and the seatbelt lights are on.
On the ground at 15:25 and now taxiing around Heathrow airport.
We eventually stopped at one of the B gates and I took the long march through the tunnels to stretch my legs. I generally prefer the tunnels, the rough and ready decor gives a feeling of being in the airport underbelly, plus they’re always peaceful
An almost empty passport control and landside a few minutes before 4pm
Next stop: the first lounge for a couple of hours
