Status is great for when you travel a lot and it comes normally - and it sometimes makes sense to work for it if you are already close to a threshold for gold/silver etc, but it doesn’t make financial sense to start effectively from scratch especially late in the year.
💯 This. Status helps when you fly a lot. I used to go long haul from Sydney every two weeks and the benefits made that easier. I now fly to the US every couple of months. Whilst the first wing is great if I had £1600 I would spend it on paying for seats and going to a nice restaurant in the airport.
