Silver status is worth having, but there is no need to pay hundreds of pounds more to travel in Club Europe simply to achieve it.

I'd suggest taking a holiday in the western US, from Dublin, early in your next collection year. This will earn over 600 TPs, giving you Silver status for almost two year for around £1,200.
