Can I ask a "related" question (or not really)

Friend and I are traveling to Queenstown out of Brisbane in July. We have already booked on Virgin and he's a Velocity Platinum member.
If this AirNZ /Virgin deal goes through, will we be able to use the Air NZ lounge pre-flight? (It looks like Air NZ aren't interested in code sharing that route so that's why am not sure it would apply )
