It's hard for me to know exactly what you mean by this - I'm referring to the deconstructed format of the granola, where they spread it out over the plate, along with the fruit and yogurt. If you eat granola that way at home, then more power to you. I eat granola at home the way I imagine most people do, in a bowl. But I also love the actual granola itself, the way they bake it, and I MUCH prefer the less sweet agave nectar to honey. To me, this dish is 1000x better than the Hyatt Place granola dish they serve at the SOMA, which is just bad, straight up.

Like I said, everyone has their own taste. To me, the menu at Kissel was clearly produced by an actual chef, whereas the SOMA breakfast is just, to my taste buds, just the usual sort of American breakfast spread. Aside from the granola (which I will avoid in future), it's not bad, at all, but certainly not exceptional to me in any way.

Of course breakfasts in Europe and Asia I've had blow away pretty much anything I've had at any hotel in the US, including Park Hyatts and other high end properties. It's all relative. I don't know why Europeans and Asians in general just have better food than we get here in our country, in hotels at least.
