G'day...longtime DL elite, first-time AA elite due to some weird flying patterns in the last 6 months. I am PP now and en route to EP. My question, which I couldn't find an answer to in the forums or on the AA website, is about upgrading international itineraries with miles. Is it possible to buy a Y fare for say a flight BOS-ATH, and then use miles to upgrade to J. The AA website just takes you directly to award search. Thanks for any info.
