Update to previous post. Having been initially offered 10,000 Avios for the broken foot stool (and therefore no flat bed) MIA-LHR, Mrs Definitas replied to BA and quoted costs. The have now added an additional 30,000 Avios. Although 40,000 Avios is closer to the place we wanted to be, we are still hoping to get 50% of what we paid, which is significantly less than what 50% of a cash ticket would be. Mrs Definitas has politely stated that aspiration and requested that they consider adding another 10,000 Avios to bring it up to a total of 50,000, which we feel is fair to us and to BA. I will update on the final,outcome. .
