Although it's been about 7 or so months since this trip, I thought I'd come back to document the outcome for others:
- SQ flight landed on time
- Followed signs to transfer desk.
- SQ 'plane stock' boarding pass didn't help
- Transit desk called AA to come bring me a 'hard' boarding pass
- Process took about 25-30 minutes
- Had to clear security that took about 20 minutes
- DEL security HAD to have the hard boarding pass for me to proceed through security and into the International boarding area
- As it related to this process, I would do this again with the right amount of transit time (like 2-4 hours)
As an aside, after boarding my flight from DEL-JFK canceled due to restrictions (they said) the FAA put on US carriers that night flying at a minimum altitude over Afghanistan. Apparently they changed the floor to 30K and the 777-300 was only capable of 28K with its weight/fuel. So they decided to fold up their tent and go back to their hotels and figure it out the next day. 26 hours later we were off...but I had to wait for the gate agents to come up with a boarding pass for the next day's flight so I could get through transit security to get to the transit hotel. THAT WAS NOT fun. Took almost 3 hours.
