re related but not identical in base pricing, promocodes, benefits, etc. However, it can cost your time to monitor such discounts.
As for the "whole trip" cost, it varies greatly among travellers. Some may splurge on a limo to the airport, while others opt for more economical options like buses or take advantage of Jetstar's return ticket free deals or loyalty points (and it doesn't always exclude airport fees).

Dear NZ Customs Team,
I am writing to seek clarification regarding a potential duty-free purchase.
I am going for a short trip to Australia. I plan to purchase an iPad for personal use, valued at less than 1000 NZD, at a duty-free store after passing through NZ immigration at Auckland Airport.
Could you please advise if I need to declare this item and pay GST upon my return to New Zealand from Australia?"
I had anticipated receiving a response from a different individual, but it appears that their staff may be limited, as the same person replied to me:
"Hello again
As previously advised, the i-pod purchased for your personal use becomes a personal effect, as previously listed. No duty or GST will be payable.
Kind regards
