So due to IRROPS I ended up flying both the 1-2-1 and 2-2-2 configurations.

Summary is the 1-2-1 has a more comfortable seat and a better screen placement, the 2-2-2 is generally mediocre. I'm glad I took the center aisle, I saw a few passengers who were climbing over their seat mates on the way to the bathroom, and it didn't look enjoyable for either. Not something you want when sitting in the front!
