Hi,

Sounds like separate tickets. In which case a same day change should work ( need to do it on the day at least 1 hour prior to the new flight times)
I think both flights need to be on BA metal ( MAD-LHR can have both IB/BA metal)
I did my change last sunday ( moved from 1800 LHR- EDI to 1155 LHR- EDI) via the app ( very easy)
