It’s either agents have no idea what they are doing or hoping the customer is too stupid and will accept a downgrade
I told the agent that I thought a PCAR was supposed to have 4 doors and able to accommodate 5 passengers and that's when he pulled the manager card. He said as a manager he knows the fleet, that PCARs can be 2 door coupes, and that he has no problem riding in the back seat of a Mustang. He was totally serious. At least he said it with a straight face.
At that point, I figured there was no reasoning with him and I just needed to get on the road. And that's when he probably figured he'd be better off sending me off in the Genesis. He was correct.
It is an off-airport Enterprise location with a small fleet. My expectations aren't really high when it comes to selection. I would have been OK with substituting something else, if that's all they had. But there was no way a Mustang would've worked for hauling around 3 other adults.
