But, there's some good news, we can leverage BAH to snag a rental car and notch up those tier points.
Flying J on the way out all the way to SYD - return in Y but having a few days in SIN on the way back. (this is the one I am leaning towards)
Flying out W direct to SYD and returning in W.
Flying out W to SIN then W to SYD and same break on the way back, again in W.
Flying out J to SIN then Y to SYD (on SQ as it's a day flight) and same on the way back Y on SQ then J on BA,
What are people's thoughts on W to SYD? How is the cabin for sleeping (it would be BA15 so the 777) the SIN option is the A380.
Another option is AY from EDI - obviously losing the BAH bonus but is their W product any better than BA (also about 20% cheaper than BA)?

One thing for certain: BA will be at the expensive end of the price range. As above look at other second tier airlines and/or ex EU
Mixing classes and stop overs mid trip may~will add to the total cost.
SYD is not the only airport in AU. But where BA fly's to.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_Airport Look at the other AU airports
If wanting to travel from Saturday 14 Dec or Saturday 21 Dec will be a lot others looking for flights UK-->AU at that time.
Are many threads on trips UK--->AU
