Welcome, bf1. Your question is a loaded one and would take more than a simple post to answer all of your needs. I suggest you spend the time to read the link that parnel posted, and to sift through FT to get different perspectives. Not only that, but this is the Air Canada/Aeroplan forum, so we can give you great input on AC/AP and perhaps a little insight on UA and other *A carriers, but I would go out on a limb to say that none of us here are knowledgeable enough on all *A carriers to give you a fair and reasonable assessment of each.
