This probably is my first and hopefully only rant about a fellow passenger, but this specimen deserves a mention:

To the gentleman on LHR-ARN last weekend who kept making a fuss about getting no free drink in ET while being a OWE, harassing the staff and threatening to complain to AA: in many ways I hope you realise that you spent the whole flight barking up the wrong tree. And do fly AA or another airline that seemingly treats you better in Europe next time and leave the rest of us in peace, or at least buy the right ticket or pay up for the services provided.

For the rest of you I’ll leave you with some quotes from the flight:

”I want a Jack and coke now, once I’ve put my bags away and settled down in my seat”

”Why can’t you serve me on the ground? Wait till you find out who I am.”

”I’m not paying for a drink. I am a Oneworld Emerald. It’s interesting that you treat an Emerald like that.”

”It’s interesting. I’ll be letting American Airlines know about this.”

“I don’t want a rum and coke, just a Jack and coke”, ignoring the crew saying that JD is never stocked but that they could offer him rum instead.

”What? You’re asking me to pay for it? That’s interesting. I won’t pay for it but I want that drink”, still not realising it’s not a JD being offered.

”Don’t you know who I am”?. There are 2x Group 0s in his row and the row ahead, and I saw a few more BA Gold tags around. Not sure why he thinks he is so special.

There’s plenty more for a 2 hour flight. I wish they’d just given him a couple of strong rum and cokes and that he’d passed out so that I didn’t have to listen to the ‘pain in the a**’ that he actually was, ironically.

Having said that, hats off the the 3 out of 4 crew that expertly handled the interesting specimen.
