I booked 2 AAdvantage awards on BA metal for my parents, and paid for seat selection on BA's website.

Unfortunately, my dad was recently diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer, and must undergo months of treatment, and, therefore, cannot travel. My mother can't travel either, as she will be his caretaker.

I have notes from 2 doctors. If I submit these to BA, will I be able to get a refund for the seat selections?

Also, are AAdvantage miles and copayments refundable on their website?
