Apologies if I am being dense but what is the issue you are trying to show with your picture? I fail to see what can be the source of discomfort.
On the pillows I agree, it is a scourge in most higher end hotels. I guess most people like mushy feather pillows that give no support, I always ask for firm ones and that solves the issue.
