It looks like Citi and American Express (and Chase) overlap with Emirates Skywards and Virgin Atlantic flying club. However, I can’t seem to find any, like zero, flights using points. Is there another strategy I’m not considering. Are there airlines better than others when it comes to offering flights using points? Thanks!
Welcome to FlyerTalk!

How many people will be traveling? Are other members of your family credit-worthy and able to get Chase sign-up bonuses on their own (perhaps with you as an authorized user to help meet the spend requirements)?

You don't necessarily have to have enough Chase points for a roundtrip: many Chase airline partners offer one-way redemptions. You could then use other points -- or perhaps even AAdvantage miles from Barclays and Citi sign-up bonuses -- for travel in the other direction.
