My recent experience with one of the NH chain was extremely unpleasant. I had to ask for the category upgrade and they claimed to be ‘fully booked’ when in fact rooms seems to be available for booking on OTAs and on the app itself. The front office person was even apologetic and pretty much ignore the status altogether.
Writing / contacting them in advance almost does not guarantee anything beyond the standard replies - please refer during check in process, and it’s subjected to availability bla bla bla.

I also had trouble with NH hotel. I stayed there last year with my friend and now all my bookings were showing my friend's name and the greeting card was addressed to my friend as well. I asked them to update my profile at the hotel but this issue hasn't been fixed at all!!! I made another booking with NH yesterday and it's showing that I made the booking for my friend!! It's so annoying...
Another hassle is I had to claim the booking later on and they didn't give me any discovery dollar. It was showing 'ineligible rate' even though I booked on GHA website and I remember there was an 'expected dollar' showing on the page when I was booking it. Email customer service wasn't helpful and they didn't seem to try to understand the situation and ultimately avoid problems...I'm getting more and more disappointed with GHA these days!
