Has anyone found a way to get various brands under the GHA umbrella to honor the 2 category room upgrade ? Or maybe share what has worked for you based on your experience?

My recent experience with one of the NH chain was extremely unpleasant. I had to ask for the category upgrade and they claimed to be ‘fully booked’ when in fact rooms seems to be available for booking on OTAs and on the app itself. The front office person was even apologetic and pretty much ignore the status altogether.

Writing / contacting them in advance almost does not guarantee anything beyond the standard replies - please refer during check in process, and it’s subjected to availability bla bla bla.
