Yes, the pillow options are fine, but the standard ones aren't good, I doubt I would know about picking different pillows if it wasn't for this forum.

in terms of the standard ones in the room, they too soft so don't offer any support.

The duvet cover isn't particularly soft either but it'd the bed sheet which is very rough ( it just doesn't give you that nice relaxing feeling when you lie on it).

I am instead trying to get comfortable - if I stayed in Germany often I would get used to it. I am quite a light sleeper and a bit picky in what I like.

As for duvets, this is the case in most hotels in Germany (and it's very comfortable).
