I've not flown W on the 789 but did last week on the 380. I would suggest avoiding the window seat especially if you're travelling alone.

- The deep recline on the seats means you absolutely would not be able to step over your (potential) neighbour to get to the aisle, without asking them to move.
- The crew lock the windows to full darkness after takeoff from PER (at least last time I flew PER-LHR they did) meaning the only benefit you get is a wall to lean against. IMO the shell of the seat is enough to stop you from slipping into the neighbouring seat space.
- If you're able to, get any seat in the bulkhead row (row 20) to benefit from no-one reclining into your space. I think row 20 is usually blocked for bassinets in A/B/J/K and WP1/CL D/E/F, so there's a good chance they'll be able to be allocated at the last minute if they're not assigned earlier, with some luck. There is sometimes a lot of movement in the last 24-48hrs before flight as people change plans, miss connections or get upgraded etc.
thank you so much for the great first-hand advice! This is why I love FT

I have changed my seat to the middle aisle and will keep an eye on bulkhead closer to date of flight.
