I am looking at my UA boarding pass, at the bottom left it says eTicket 016xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I imagine AA has something similar, I don't recall with first three numbers are, maybe 014, but pretty much for sure starts with a zero.
That would be the confirmation number, and it should be in your email as well. Email when the ticket was ticketed.
